Over the next few months, we will give you the opportunity to learn more about CNAR – and provide the keys to answering CNAR trivia questions correctly! Keep an eye on this space, as it will continually be updated with interesting milestones about CNAR’s journey over the last 20 years!
2000
Engineers Canada and the Canadian Nurses Association discuss responding to changes to the Immigration Act. They invited other national associations of regulators to join and created the Coalition of Regulatory-related Agencies. The first meeting welcomes 14 national organizations.
2003
“CNNAR” is born! CORA becomes the Canadian Network of National Associations of Regulators (CNNAR) to reflect the increasing need to address common issues at the national level.
2006
CNNAR becomes a non-profit corporation under the Canada Corporations Act.
2007
CNNAR hosts its first national conference! This is followed by annual educational events.
2000

CNNAR becomes a non-profit corporation under the Canada Corporations Act.
2007
CNNAR hosts its first national conference! This is followed by annual educational events.
2012
CNNAR holds its first conference outside of Toronto, Ontario, and welcomes its largest number of attendees to date in Ottawa.
CNNAR renamed the Canadian Network of Agencies for Regulation (CNAR) to embrace its growing membership. CNAR creates Communities of Interest for professional regulators to share information, best practices, and resources. CNAR adds investigations training to its roster of educational offerings.
CNAR launches its new website and self-serve member portal. The new site includes collaborative work spaces, searchable directories, event registration, a job board, and a survey tool.
CNAR introduces a more inclusive membership model in which provincial organizations from the not-for-profit sector become eligible to join CNAR. CNAR’s organizational membership more than doubles by the end of the calendar year. CNAR hosts its largest annual Conference to date, with almost 400 delegates attending the event in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
CNAR launches its Corporate Partnership Program, formalizing relationships with four key organizations.
CNAR Annual Conference, hosted in Quebec City, attracts almost 600 delegates from every province and territory in Canada.
2020
CNAR introduces ‘virtual discussions’ open to the entire community to discuss the challenges presented by the pandemic. Virtual discussions evolve to become a staple a CNAR programming going forward.
2021
CNAR deepens live virtual content offerings and launches eBooks and a video library.
2022
CNAR launches a hybrid Conference format, attracting a record number of delegates with virtually and on Prince Edward Island. CNAR 2022 also marks the first in Canada’s smallest province, demonstrating commitment to serving regulators nationwide.
2023
We mark our 20th-Anniversary celebration in Vancouver, BC with our largest ever conference! CNAR hosts an augural International Symposium, featuring speakers from the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S.

Share your story with us and qualify for a chance to win a ticket for CNAR 2024! Each submission will give you a chance to win; share several stories and increase your chances!

- Each submission counts as one entry. (If you submit three stories, your name will be entered three times into the draw.)
- Submit your story or link to your MP4 files to: CNAR20th@cnar-rcor.ca
- A name entry only does not qualify. However, simple best wishes to CNAR are welcome both by video and an in writing – as long as we can use your quote!
- You may submit your story via a recorded video (MP4, 90-seconds to two minutes in length) or a brief written piece.
- The story must be true and must be from your own personal experience.
- For written stories, there is no minimum word count – nor is it limited!
- You must be comfortable with CNAR publishing the story or video via various channels (social media, on the 20th Anniversary website, at the Conference, etc. (Stories will be selected at CNAR’s discretion.)
- Feel free to share an accompanying photo with a written story.
- Your entries will go towards winning a complimentary (non-transferable) ticket to attend CNAR 2024 in Ottawa next October, valued at approximately CDN$1,000 each. Select submission applicants will receive a CNAR water bottle or other small surprises for their time!
- The winner will be announced in the December issue of Network News. CNAR will also contact you via email if you do not claim your prize.
- The complimentary ticket cannot be exchanged for cash, applied to another CNAR event, or deferred to a future CNAR Conference.

The Leader Board represents those who have answered the most correct answers. When there is a tie, those who answered first appear on the Board. Please note, the person in first place is not the guaranteed winner of the Trivia contest, but is in the lead in terms of the number of opportunities entered to win the complimentary ticket.
